OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open get Android 15 Beta

OnePlus has now announced that it has released Android 15 Beta for its flagship OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open devices. The announcement came just before Google’s Android 15 Beta 2 announcement, which was scheduled for Google I/O 2024.

The Android 15 Beta arrives for the OnePlus Open and OnePlus 12

A community moderator at the OnePlus community confirms that Android 15 Beta is now available for the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open smartphones. The community post reads, “This version of Android 15 Beta 1 is intended for developers and advanced users. Offering early access to Android 15 allows app developers and early adopters in our community to start creating better software experiences.”

If you are using the OnePlus 12 or the OnePlus Open as your daily driver, it’s advisable to refrain from flashing the Android 15 update for now. There will be tons of issues as the OS is still in its initial stage. The post warns users that installing this update could potentially brick the device.

Here are all the known issues of the Android 15 Beta

As mentioned earlier, this is a very early build of Android, so there are both major and minor issues. Additionally, you may even notice issues related to app crashes and optimizations.

Some of the known issues for the OnePlus 12 Android 15 Beta include the Smart lock function not working, Bluetooth connectivity issues, malfunctioning Hotspot, the Auto Pixelate feature crashing during screenshot preview, and the ProXDR button turning invisible after taking a photo.

The OnePlus Open also has significant issues reported with the update, such as Bluetooth compatibility issues, unusual camera functions, a non-functional multi-screen connect feature, a broken smart select and cutout function for photographs, and issues with the system cloning functionality. You may even encounter some other issues such as bootloops or even a system crash. So think twice before flashing the update. We advise you to at least wait until 2-3 stable versions are out.
